My Design Philosophy
Hello! My name is Taylor Garland and I am an Interior Design student at Savannah College of Art and Design. I created this blog as a platform to show my growth of understanding how forms work within space, while exemplifying my design philosophy.
Overall, I believe this collage showcases my design style very well. The multiple tones of different colors in addition to the different textures represents the staples in any of my projects. Natural elements and materials can usually be found in my design and I love to bring the "outside" in to my spaces. I draw a lot of my inspiration from fashion, as it goes hand and hand with interior design, particularly fashion editorials that focus on showing new, luxury pieces in an older, historic atmosphere. Bringing together old and new components, in conjunction with all of the characteristics listed above make up a large part of my design philosophy, as well as this collage.
My Design Philosophy
A successful design evokes emotions in any and all that see it. Gathering inspiration
from music, fashion, fine art, nature, and other cultures is crucial in establishing a mental
response. Breaking the traditional design boundaries through textures, color tones, and
worldwide influences, while still considering the strengths of all the forms within the space,
creates a strong experience for all involved.

I love the texture and abstract, yet naturalistic, approach that you have. Fashion has a definite/noticeable impact, I agree.
ReplyDeleteI really enjoy how your collage comes alive!! The colors literally jump off the page and grab your attention. There is a ton of personality, mood, and expression which translates beautifully from your design philosophy. Great job!
ReplyDeleteNice addition to your conclusion and overall analysis from Tuesday's class. Strong visual composition of your collage. The purple on your blog is a bold choice and aligns well with your design philosophy. Great work!
ReplyDeleteI like the color selection . It reflects your personality, and your style. Good choices of images, these are unique and very expressive.
